Bear Republic was the popular name of the short-lived independent nation of California that was centered in Sonoma County from 1830s to 1840s. Today that independent spirit lives on in the beers of Bear Republic Brewing Company in Healdsburg.

Bear Republic is a welcomed beer oasis in the wine-centric town of Healdsburg. When your palate is fatigued from all the downtown wine tasting rooms, stop in Bear Republic for a refreshing change of pace.

Known for full-flavored brews, they make excellent West-Coast pale ales and IPAs. Their stouts are also outstanding. But don't overlook their solid line of under 5.0% alcohol beers—they still deliver a lot of taste.

Bear Republic is progressive and always willing to try something new, but unlike some of the more experimental breweries, they never forget to put quality in the keg and bottle.

The pub’s wine list features a nice selection of local wines. Alexander Valley and Dry Creek Valley vineyards are especially well represented.
