San Francisco Bay Area is Beer Country

To most of the world San Francisco Bay Area is synonymous with great food and as a convenient starting point for forays into Wine Country. But, the Bay Area is also home to great craft beer.

Since so many people use San Francisco as a hopping off point for vineyard tours, it makes sense to visit its breweries while you are there. The Bay Area has numerous top notch brewpubs and breweries, at least a couple of which should be on your trip itinerary.

In fact, San Francisco is recognized as a birthplace of the contemporary American craft beer industry. See the craft beer History page for more information. The city celebrates its craft beer traditions each February during San Francisco Beer Week.

Moylan’s Brewery and Restaurant is located up in the North Bay suburbs of Marin County. Right off Hwy. 101, it’s a convenient stop on your way north to Sonoma and Napa counties. Definitely worth a stop.

 

21st Amendment is a great place to take a break from a heavy day of San Francisco tourism. Its location is just a few blocks from the Giants baseball park.

Curvaceous Lombard Street in the summer is a great place to walk off some of the calories consumed during a day of beer, wine and food tastings.

The Golden Gate Bridge from Marin County. Heading north up Highway 101 to Marin County will reveal additional brewing gems in the suburbs.
